  1. Oh no, whatever will we do without the tax money that they don’t pay………..

  2. Imagine pissing your money away in Florida. Their insurance market is collapsing and the value of real estate is going to tank at the rate it’s going since it’s effectively uninsurable.

  3. not sure why they would go Florida lol Dubai would make more sense

  4. Please don’t leave and cause a reduction in rental prices and create poverty/misery/destitution amongst estate agents!!!!

  5. Two old proverbs apply here:

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

All that glitters is not gold

  6. Most of these are oligarch’s kids having a ball anyway. Bugger off.

  7. This is actually great news for property values. If you think about it, a couple that can comfortably afford the mortgage on a 600k property get outbid by millionaires that can buy it with cash (and pay more than the asking price). Hopefully this will mean people can access property within their reach without wealthier people and cash buyers outbidding them. It’s not enough to solve the housing crisis but it’s a start.

  8. Why would a millionaire choose to live in Florida???

  9. Seeing this a lot in my peers. Get offered a pay bump to work in Dubai with no tax, then come back in a few years with money to buy a house cash upfront. No brainer.

  10. Go after their assets.

That won’t be leaving the country with them.

  11. 1) Poor people get fucked in this country

    2) Rich people LEAVING is bad for the country

Two things can be true at once. Classic small-brained reddit responses here.

  12. A very worrying sign – there’s a reason that countries offer green cards for millionaires. They know it makes money.

Just walk down a millionaire row of houses… expensive cars, houses furnished, landscapers and gardeners – it’s contributes a hell of a lot.

They still pay for millions of people not contributing to the U.K. economy.

The trick is to get the millionaires to spend in your country – not make them leave.

Race to the bottom with the left mob.

  13. They’d better run, the communists are coming to get them.

  14. Overall it’s not great for the UK. However people fleeing cause they don’t want to pay tax is pretty low they can definitely afford it.
If I was rich enough I’d pay my share and use relevant loopholes allowed (cause there are plenty).. don’t get me wrong I’m no saint..I wouldn’t leave the country because I’m paying too much tax though that’s just fcking greedy.. I’d leave cause the fcking weather…

  15. As if any of them is adding any value to London. Most of them are non-dom not even paying taxes.

  16. My mate is an immigration lawyer who advises high-net-worth individuals on routes to living in the UK, through investment or starting businesses, and his team are incredibly busy. Rich people leaving weren’t consuming the same crappy services everyone else has to, or stressed out over state schools or public healthcare, they’re only trying to protect their wealth and the UK wasn’t their first waypoint.

They’re not interested in the country, the people, the economy, their contribution is fairly parasitic and they’ve fucked off to find a new host.

Happy to take the revenue hit and encourage more motivated people to come in.
