Highest tax rate in the world has put us in a permanent state of numbness.
It was 2018
Because we literally don’t care, bro.
We just watched the weather report where we saw 23 degrees & no rain. Good times!
Haha nice rage bait bro
We complain a lot, it’s therapeutic.
We literally don’t care about most of the things that might look serious in other countries. We are the country of “surrealism.” If we had to care, we would go crazy 🤪
If the Red Devils start to win game you’ll see the hype rise
We live in one of the best countries in the world. Our healthcare is top 10, wealth distribution is within An acceptable limit, it’s relatively safe, social security excists, …
I mean we like to complain, but we have to complain about the train not being on time (sometimes), the weather being shit or our neighbour being An asshole. Life is good here.
Because no one can make fun of us better than us and that puts us in a constant state of not giving zero fucks. We like football and cycling. The food and beer is good, weather is shit, taxes are high and Stromae is cool and that’s good enough.
One of the few properly working welfare systems without long wait times (although since covid the mental health crisis is hitting in Belgium too)
Self-derision is a national habit. In a word I think many of us don’t take ourselves too seriously. The rest of the world doesn’t either so you know, we kind of have to own it.
Football for example is really more an excuse to go out and have fun. Drink beer. Meet friends.
And yeah we want to win but we were never programmed to compete with the likes of france, germany etc .. We’re a much smaller country, with less population and talent etc… And yet with this earlier generation, for the last ten years or so we’ve been competing. So it’s a weird mix : on one hand we acknowledge that we have no right to be competing at this high level, but on the other hand, objectively, we have been. So the mentality is to basically take what we get, because we always feel like we can go back to being football nobodies in a couple years.
Altho, I don’t believe that will happen. Foundations here are pretty solid now.
It only happens during the combo World Cup/Euro + sun
We realized we are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things so we decided to stop giving a shit
They arent chill, just dumb n lazy. Cant be bothered with anything that involves getting their ass of the chair
