  1. Are these guys fucking idiots. Surely if you want to make a fraudulent bet you would get a person who you have no public relationship with to make the bet then split the winnings.

  3. Book has to be absolutely volleyed at them for this. How dumb do they think the general population has to be to try this? As if most people don’t know what insider betting is?

    God, out of *everything* they’ve done recently this one has vexed me a lot for some reason, because I just cannot believe the audacity of it lmao.

    These lot are grifters to the point of literal criminality. A “hold my beer” of insider trading and dirty handshakes.

  8. I don’t know why you’d do something so silly for a few hundred quid when you’re hoping to get a job that’ll probably see you set for life. 

    FYI I don’t know how much she bet, but the first one caught did it for £400.

  9. Not only that, but the Conservative campaign director she’s married to has now taken a leave of absence, two weeks before the election that he’s supposed to be directing the campaign for.

    This is literally a disaster of unprecedented proportions, I genuinely can’t think of a moment where such a stupid and banal scandal has brought down the head of a campaign in such a manner. The Conservatives have nobody to blame but themselves when it comes to this stupidity.

  10. It’s laughable as it just shows how leaky the Tory hq is. Makes you wonder what else has been leaked to press, foreign powers etc.

    Secondly you can’t get more than 100 quid on anything. I just tried to get a bet on hayes to retain (the latest Mrp poll suggests he will lose but even at 1/4 that’s free money!). I was told I could have it…but 100 max and singles only…

  11. What’s the legal issue here? Obviously it’s unethical but is there a specific illegal thing that this is? Fraud? Insider trading? Would they have actually rigged an event if they knew the outcome of the bet but hadn’t rigged it themselves? I’ve seen lots of “gambling commission are investigating” but not what they’re investigating.

  16. It just sums up how morally bankrupt the Tories are. You just know it’s the tip of the iceberg and if it came to insider trading they would do the same. If they want to understand why they are tanking at the polls, this is another good example.
