I've been living in my student apartment for four months now, and the WiFi setup here has always intrigued me. I'm uncertain whether the internet source is the WiFi router in my apartment or the towers on the terrace.

Since I was provided with the WiFi username and password separately, I never needed to look into the router's instructions. However, due to recent internet issues, I had to troubleshoot the setup. I noticed something peculiar: the router doesn't have a power source—just an Ethernet cable connected to it and the power supply socket. There's no IP address associated with it either. Interestingly, the internet works regardless of whether the router is connected or not.

Does anyone have insight into how this mechanism works?
