Labour will ‘use private sector’ to reduce NHS waitlists

we will also use the private sector as necessary to reduce those uh waiting lists we’ve got a clear plan for 40,000 extra appointments each and every week that’s 2 million a year to get those waiting lists down that will be done working with NHS staff using evening facilities weekend facilities and we’ve talked it through with staff but also I’m confident because there are models already in place so St Thomas’s Hospital in London is already doing this um in leed’s hospital I’ve been to see this at work we’ll use those teams across the country as the sort of prototype for other hospitals so I’m convinced that we can do this we will also use the private sector as necessary to reduce those uh waiting lists they’re already used at the moment but we’ve got to get that waiting list down it’s nearly 8 million now and that’s talking to a man this morning who’s had a hip operation waiting two years for that operation in pain that’s the human cost of the failure of this government

Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer told us his party “will… use the private” – alongside the public – sector to reduce NHS waiting lists.

  1. 3.8 million appointments a day in englands gp surgeries alone, this is as bad as their more teachers policy, which equates to 1 teacher for every 3.7 schools in England.

  2. This country deserves exactly what we're getting.

Fun fact: the war criminal tony blair was already in the process of privatising the NHS

  3. Is there anyway this guy could just waffle on about things he won't change. Can't be arsed to change and will just hold power until he proves he probably shouldn't?

  4. Pouring more money into the NHS so the bureaucratic league of NHS management can inefficiently pass it around, pocket some, then demand more.

Labour will be a worse government than the shitshow that was the Tory government. Stop voting for these two clown parties.

  5. Tell The country stammer what you've agreed with the Muslims and Islamic hoards in England to get their votes in return?? Come on tell the country

  6. More chatting chit. Lets be honest, the 3 major parties have FAILED for over 40 years. Its time the reigns were handed to someone else. Vote Independent or greens, lets change the status quo.

  7. "The private sector?"
People with private sector health insurance always get to jump the NHS queues – even though they mostly use NHS doctors, nurses, ancilliary staff, premises, equipment, beds, etc.
Looks like the private sector is in for another bumper payday.

  8. He is an idiot. As an ex staff nurse I can tell you its about staffing 45,000 nurse posts unfilled. So many doctors and nurses leaving the NHS!

  9. There’s waiting lists because everything was shut down for nearly 2 years. Welsh Labour and Scottish SNP wanted longer – and they did longer lockdown hence they have even greater backlogs. And Labour wanted longer lockdowns.

  10. Who is going to pay for these additional 'Private Sector' Healthcare appointments? We the tax-payer of course. Same old! Same old Labour with so many red flags now emerging

  11. Finally! common sense. There is a desperate need to allow private healthcare system to expand and provide additional choice of care for those able/willing to pay for private insurance

  12. Using the private sector, that pays more than the public sector, will ensure that staff from the NHS will move from the public sector to the private sector. Meaning we will have less staff in the NHS and make the country more dependent on the private sector. Privatisation by the back door, and labour know this.

  13. Watching him on so many speeches, he gets very angry and aggressive when questioned. And with that attitude expects to be prime minister. I'm sure he would kick you in the teeth.
