Hi there!

I have been looking for the solution in Google/Bing, but was not lucky this time yet.

Basically the title. I have a phone (new iphone) and a plan from another EU country. The phone works perfectly, however, for whatever reason, in the territory of Belgium all major providers (Orange, Base, Proximus) can do MAXIMUM 3G quality calls for such a phone with a foreign plan (in my case: Deutsch Telekom Hungary).

Is there any particular reason for this?

Do you have any suggestions for a solution besides getting a Belgian phone subscription too?

Many thanks!

  1. You have to turn on the VoLTE in settings – mobile service – under SIMs select your numbers – voice & data – VoLTE

  2. That’s odd but I would contact the provider.
I’m using a german SIM card in my phone for years in Belgium and do get 5G so I don’t think it’s a thing for “foreign SIM” in general. (mine is also a cheap prepaid, so nothing fancy that I pay extra for.)
