  1. We’re going to be hearing their music everywhere.

It’ll probably be in the next Uncharted or God of War game.

The Boyz theme song will be We Are the Champions.

  2. Wow. They sold everything. That’s surprising because I figured that would have been a cash cow that could have been milked for many years. I’m curious as to who owned Mercury’s copyrights now.

  3. “Cooooool Ranch Doriiiitooss for my frieeends …. They’lllll keep on *KRUNCH*ing, til the eeenddd…”

  4. Inevitably, this will probably lead to it being harder to listen to their music outside of very monetized avenues. DMCA and copyright strikes have hurt music, and I think the corporate interests are still finding ways to squeeze every cent they can out of legacy artists.

  5. So, when Queen performs now, do they have to pay royalties to the new owner?

  6. This is the weird thing. If they still tour and play the songs, do they now have to pay licensing fees to Sony??

  7. I look forward to the bonanza of products using their former IP – We Are The Champignons, Flat-Bottomed Grills, I Want To Bake Brie, We Will Sock You, Killer Clean and of course, one which won’t need any tweaking, Another One Bites The Dust.
