A despicable crime by Crotty and bizarre the courts only gave a suspended sentence. Thankfully, at least Crotty is getting the boot from the army.
There’s been a lot of uproar over a commandant giving evidence at the trial which is seen in the media as providing a character reference. The commandant was attending as an officer has to attend court cases involving DF members and he was asked at the court to read out Crotty’s performance reviews in the DF.
From the article:
>He also moved to explain the presence of a superior officer in the courtroom on Wednesday. He said that officer, Commandant Paul Togher, was there under Defence Forces regulations.
“When a member of the Defence Forces is before the courts, there is an obligation that a commanding officer would have an officer in court for two purposes — one, to co-operate with the court if the court requires and sometimes an officer can be cross-examined and was on this occasion by both defence and the prosecution, and to provide whatever material is on the file to the court, and secondly to report back to the Defence Forces in terms of what actually transpired in court,” he said
For anyone that hasn’t seen, there are a number of protests tomorrow
This same judge just handed another suspended sentence to a male who, with his two friends, kicked and punched a homeless man over 100 times while the man could be heard begging them to stop, someone else just posted the link here.
Can we protest this judge? 🙈
So impressed with the victim of this using her power to turn the tables on the aggressor, through that fantastic interview. She will have made this guy fear. And hopefully the dpp will follow up with an appeal of leniency.
This judge needs investigation. Far too many lenient sentences
Can you imagine how condescending this useless judge was to Natasha, how hurt and hopeless and shamed he made her feel? Horrifying behavior from all involved.
