Hi everyone, I’m a bit in a pickle and hope you might be able to point me in the right direction.

A bit over half a year ago me and the misses adopted a 3y old border collie from the shelter. Animal control had seized him and a few of his brothers and sisters from their owners due to malnourishment and abuse. Eventually they were put up for adoption.

By chance we started visiting the shelter right when they first arrived and really bonded with this guy (and visa versa). Once he came up for adoption we decided to put our names down and were over the moon when he got assigned to us.

We knew he came with a big pile of bagage due to his history and got a dog counselor to work with him.

All in all it was a tremendous and satisfying journey but it won’t have a happy end for us.

He made tremendous progress, doesn’t have an angry bone in him, loves all other animals (including cats) and is currently a happy and healthy camper but still has some needs that we can’t provide. Ideally he should be able to be in a small pack of dogs or with a family that is not just only at home a lot but can actively spend multiple hours a day with him. As he gets extremely anxious when he hears or sees children playing or running a sanctuary seems the best option as were just unable to provide him the life he needs and deserves.

So, with a very heavy heart, I want to ask it anyone knows whether there are any of these sanctuaries in Belgium or nearby across the border?
