U.S. restrictions put key Russian air bases out of firing range, officials say. Letting Ukraine hit targets in Russia with U.S. weapons has reduced missile attacks on Kharkiv but not stopped planes that drop deadly glide bombs.

It’s Vietnam all over again
They should be able to strike wherever a physical attack is originating from. Another good point I heard recently is that pushing russian air assets further back increases flight hours and thus maintenance. It basically reduces the combat effectiveness of all the airframes. Any base where glide bombs or cruise missiles originate from should be fair game
>The Ukrainian officials said the United States has restricted Ukraine to firing less than 100 kilometers, or about 62 miles, from the border. Both spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the rule. U.S. officials declined to specify the limitation but said the Ukrainians’ assertion of less than 100 kilometers was incorrect.
“Technically, when firing from elevated position and with wind blowing the right way, you can get a GMLRS to 101km!”, I guess.
Because, well

>In effect, Ukraine can now use American-provided weapons, such as rockets and rocket launchers, to shoot down launched Russian missiles heading toward Kharkiv, at troops massing just over the Russian border near the city, or Russian bombers launching bombs toward Ukrainian territory. But the official said Ukraine cannot use those weapons to hit civilian infrastructure or launch long-range missiles, such as the Army Tactical Missile System, to hit military targets deep inside Russia.
Another option is that there are no permissions for 300km models (assuming any got supplied) and the only others available are <200km-range cluster ones
EDIT: Added more to the first quote for clarity
That’ll change only question is when
Guys I am all for the destruction of the Russian military but there has to be a limit on our weapons being used. Eventually a lot of Russian civilians are gonna get killed with these powerful weapons. Gonna have to attack them planes with planes .
Boiling frog strategy frustrating but effective
