Putin Warns South Korea Against Arming Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned South Korea that sending arms to Ukraine would be “a big mistake”.

On Thursday South Korea said it was considering exporting arms to Ukraine in response to Russia and North Korea’s new military pact.

Putin made the statement shortly after he left North Korea, where he met with Kim Jong Un. It was Putin’s first visit to the country in 24 years.

North Korea has become a key supplier of artillery shells in Russia’s war with Ukraine.

The carefully choreographed visit culminated in the signing of a defensive military pact.

South Korea had previously refused to provide lethal weapons to Ukraine, and instead sent humanitarian and medical supplies. But the new North Korean-Russian pact has caused South Korea to reconsider this policy.

Putin said Russia would make “decisions which are unlikely to please the current leadership of South Korea” if they started supplying arms to Ukraine.

  10. North Korea is bigger than South Korea, with roughly half the population. The economy of South Korea is thirty times bigger than North Korea. I wonder why….

  12. Putin's mistakes have been spectacular. These are not opinions, but facts. 1) Putin thought that his Special Military Operation would last 3 days. 2)Putin thought that the East-West Gostemel-Sikivka pincer would result in Kiev falling. 3) Putin that that Zelenskiy would flee when he found out about the pincer. 4) Putin continued the conquer Ukraine strategy long after various objectives had been lost — Kherson, Kharkov, Snake Island, et cetera. 5) Putin did not count on Europe, Russia's largest customer, cutting oil and gas purchases. 6) Putin thought that he could "pivot to the East" – but petroleum supply to China depends on one pipeline which cannot be expanded except for years and billions of dollars of construction. And so on.
