  1. It’s very good, but what he is saying is not really complicated, so I wouldn’t judge his ability to speak the language well on that short clip. But in this video, it’s flawless. (little bit of an accent, but who cares)

  2. As a Portuguese that also speaks German he does it really well. In all honesty he went to the German school in Porto so this is not some fringe event.

  3. He’s better than I am… Maybe he should get an IT job in Germany and I should be president of Portugal?

Or do you need Portuguese for that? That would be a problem.

  4. At least as far as I can judge from this video, he speaks nearly flawless german, good enough to not be immeadently recognised as a foreigner in Germany.

  5. yeah really good very confident with a slight accent, though he repeats his 4-5 words sentence.

  6. Honestly, the average German does not speak more clearly or more sophisticated than he does. Citizenship granted ✅

  7. Fantastic German. The accent sounds a little like Jean-Claude Juncker/Luxemburgish accent. But Portuguese and Letzeburgisch have a similar sound to them.

  8. yes, he is obviously fluent and can speak fast without having to think about vocabulary etc.

It’s not “school German”, but he obviously has had lots of “live practice”.

(Haha, sorry for my English, not my native language. The president’s German is probably a lot better than my English, hahaha)

  9. His German is way above average for a non native as far as one can tell from this Clip. A friend of mine lives here since 2 years and his German is worse.
