A small corection however this appears to be a BMP-2 and not a 1 do the presence of an extra parescop anything else is similar however

Interesting development. I just dont get why they do not use older APCs like the BTR-70 and BTR-60 for this role. The armor is of course a little better on BMPs but most FPV drones will still penetrate them anyway. Also in my opinion BMP is much more valuable as IFV but who knows maybe they have a lot of BMP-1 still in storage

BMP is an APC but with a turret which makes it an IFV. Not surprising given the number of MT-LBs Russia has lost.

BMPs are APCs, but configured with a weapon allowing the vehicle to directly support an infantry placement. The Ruzzians converting tanks to ambulatory sheds fits the description, the weapons are inoperative and the vehicle is just a meat wagon. But BMPs? Already APCs, dude has no clue.

This looks to be a modified [MT-LB](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MT-LB), which isn’t a BMP or an APC. But rather a tracked utility vehicle capable of a multitude of roles.
This was designed in the 50’s by the Soviet Army. Although it can carry 11 soldiers or 4k lbs it’s thin metal skin isn’t designed for combat operations.
This vehicle is more like a lightly armored, tracked, utility vehicle.
