For realzies though: I do not agree with these people at all, but I do find myself thinking that if we lived in a truly inclusive society, that would have meaningful jobs for all skill and ability levels, affordable good quality housing, working social security net and effective mental health and addiction services, these people would probably be happily living their own life and not participating something thats as futile, silly and useless as this.

In Finlands case I don’t feel like there is need for this kind of copy cat movement. We have had mild restrictions anyway and THL(our health institute) is full of old fossils which only goal seems to be that we get prohibition back. This is going to be a flat pancake.

The popular opinion on Reddit or in Finland? On Reddit, people are obviously laughing at this. In reality, however, much of the working class stands behind it. Many people feel that they’ve been lied to by the government and that the current restrictions are completely overblown.
Also, unlike in Canada, regular gas here costs well over 2.5 CAD per liter. That by itself might not seem that high but when you take into account the low wages and the highest taxes in the world, you can understand why people feel they’ve had enough.
While I would be tempted to say “lol shitshow” with the rest… this kind of disorganized populist movement is exactly the thing hate groups love.
I lived in Ottawa Canada for over a decade, and we had hate groups protesting several times a year even though it never made even the local news. It was 10-20 people, they would fly their flags and make signs, and everyone would ignore them because it was a tiny group and all they really did was make themselves look even more pathetic. No one would go to a white suprematist rally because, well, it’s a white supremacy rally.
But what they love are populist movements that they can co-opt. It gives them a palatable lie to get more people involved, that gets them media coverage, meetings with powerful people, legitimacy. People who would never go to a WS rally will show up to a populist event that is lead by white supremacists.

It’s sad that people don’t realise this. Cutting 50% tax doesn’t make it 50% cheaper. Fuel price is no 100% tax.
People are really enjoying their time bullying the people that drive the food, clothes, goods and utilities to their stores.
Truckers convoy is the cherry on top of an already massive supply chain crisis. I sincerely hope our coffee won’t cost 25 a bag by the start of the summer. What happens if this comes to fruition? Will the rest of us go on strike against the government?
We have to understand that for every truck that is off the road an entire store goes without supplies for a week to two months.
I think we need to discuss in a more mature manner about what is happening because right now all we see are people laughing about defecation in plastic bags. Ridiculing people like immature ala-aste kids.
