I support this, and as a vet I actually wish the us would offer the military as an option for convicts in the us, because I’ve also volunteered in prisons, and I’ve met alot of guys who would have done really well in that structured environment, and they could have turned their lives around and contributed to society instead of wasting their best years in the prison system, learning the wrong habits. But this article is a puff piece. Let’s not act like this isn’t a sign of desperation, and a stark reminder of just how many young Ukrainian men have lost their lives trying to stop putins psychotic ambitions. This is clearly just trying to make us forget how we condemned Russia for it, and rightfully pointed out that it was a sign of desperation when they did it, and it showed hor many Russian men had died for putins ambitions. I’m not saying Ukraine shouldn’t do it, but this is definitely just propaganda, trying to say it’s different this time. it’s actually a good thing, and not a bad sign of the grinding effect this war is having on Ukranian combat age males.

   I suspect Ukraine will be more ethical about it, both in who they allow to fight, and how they use these men, by not intentionally and knowingly putting them in situations where they have no chance of survival. I also hope this man avenges his family, kicks the Russians out of his country, and lives a long and peaceful life. But it’s fucked up, and the author of this article wants us to forget that.
