completely destroying Bridges the ability to disrupt the Overland rail Supply route at will is a significant Advantage for Ukrainian forces although the railroad can be repaired relatively quickly due to the flat terrain its reliability as a Supply Route has been seriously compromised in light of these developments Russian forces took steps to strengthen their defenses around the Kirch Strait including the redeployment of eight previously storm damaged barrier barges to the southern side of the straight equipped with anti- USV pendants and possibly manned by armed Personnel the purpose of targets at Sea while barges pose a challenge for usvs operating independently they are unlikely to withstand a coordinated attack involving both missiles and usvs for example a Storm Shadow missile strike on one of the barges followed by a wave of usvs using the resulting Gap could overwhelm all existing defenses and potentially lead to the complete destruction of the Kirch straight Bridge Storm Shadow a British French and Italian air launched cruise missile with a range of more than 250 km and a 450 kg Warhead is designed to penetrate hardened targets and is well suited for such an operation moreover the simultaneous targeting of the Overland Railway line would exacerbate Russia’s Supply problems forcing them to rely on an already overburdened Road Network that would be vulnerable to Ukrainian artillery and missile attacks while railroads are generally easier to repair than Bridges increased Supply problems in Crimea would significantly reduce Russia’s ability to use the peninsula
