> The findings are significant because, unlike other polls, they suggest most voters want to go back into the EU as soon as possible.

Brexit kills careers and sucks up all the time and energy which could be better spent on fixing our immediate problems. As long as it remains controversial, no politician will touch it.
Rejoin has been ahead in polling for years. According to the polls here – rejoin overtook leave a bit after July 2021 – and it’s stayed there.

No link to the poll from the article. Tried searching techne but couldn’t get to it. Why can’t sources be linked isn’t that basic journalism…oh wait…
Only one little problem. The eu are not banging on the door for the Uk to rejoin. And also would all member countries vote to let the Uk rejoin.
It’s never going to happen, and it’s probably not a good idea now.
Now, how was the question phrased?
Was it fantasy based, letting people assume we could go back to how things were?
Or was it making clear that if we rejoin, it’ll be without all the special treatment we used to have? Lose the rebate, commit to replacing the pound with the Euro, etc?
What we used to have and what we could have in future are not the same thing.
Should probably be a pair of referendums in future:
1) Do you want the government to negotiate terms for the UK to join the EU?
2) Here are the terms that the UK and EU have agreed to. Do you want to join?
