Hello folks.. I am travelling to NI with my wife for the first time for 5 days so just wanted to ask some questions regarding public transport tickets.

1) I am travelling from Belfast international airport to city centre tonight for which I need to change two buses as per google maps..300a and 502a/5050. which ticket I should be buying from above , I am travelling with my wife.

2) out of 5 days 2 days we will be exploring northern coast on our own so I figured we need to buy some zone 4 tickets, how to buy that from the app above?

Thank you in advance.

  1. Rather than try to navigate Translink’s abominably poor information organisation I would recommend just buying your tickets for inter-town travel on the bus/at the stations.

Use the mlink for metro and glider services within Belfast though.

  2. 1. The Airport Express alone is enough to get you from Belfast International to city centre. It will drop you off at the Europa Hotel. If you need to get a bus from there to somewhere else in the city, it’ll be a Metro ticket. You can also just buy a ticket on the Metro bus (which does take contactless).
    2. The north coast is pretty tough to explore by public transit. To maximize your experience it may be better to book a tour or rent a car. Otherwise you’re likely to spend most of your time waiting for the bus rather than seeing the sights.

  3. You should be able to just get on a 300 Airport express, I don’t think you need to change (but ask the driver). So it’s an Airport express ticket.

It’ll drop you at the Europa from International airport.

This is the timetable here. It goes through a park and ride.

    Various options North Coast.

Ulsterbus as far as I know makes stops in most towns. Goldline goes direct from Belfast.

The train goes from Belfast to E.g Portrush/Londonderry etc

I think if you get an iLink card it allows you to get any bus or train in any ‘zone’ on bus or rail. It’s a top up card. Probably your best option.

  4. On top of what’s been said. If you are in Belfast for the day both download the app and buy day tickets. Should be £4 and you can hop on and off the bus just by showing the driver your ticket on the app

  5. There is a bus direct from international airport to city centre.

Also I’ve done the coast by public transport many times. There is a train from belfast city centre to Coleraine and then a bus from there that stops at all the sights you would want to see.
