the government want an underclass of working poor to serve pension and investment interests of ‘mom & pop’ landlords
They’ve had the guts of a generation to implement these policies and achieved their aims and objectives, things are only going to get worse from here out
Corporate fascists gonna corporate fascism.
These things take time. Not something simple that can be fixed overnight.

Look, lads, just ban abnb, but you guys won’t do that will ya.
In fairness everyone here was complaining that the rules were too restrictive when it was capped at 3x your salary.
A rise was absolutely predictable when they increased this.
The solution to social housing has to be to build social housing. Government needs to build council houses.
Irish journalists are so entrenched in “everything is about housing prices” that they seem to be incapable of understanding that the mandate of the Central Bank is not and has never been to control house prices.
Is that not obvious? That isn’t the role of the Central Bank.
Gentle reminder that “making housing more affordable” is not a part of the Central Bank’s attributions, that’s on the government. I don’t know why this dude wrote this entire article only to admit that in the end. This piece of text is useless
Vested interested in keeping prices artificially high vs promoting competition.
Government should be doing its best to get consumers the best quality at the lowest price.
Just take a look at Dublin City centre. The skyline must be preserved at all cost.
Affordable is being taken the wrong way here, the only affordable they care about is people making their repayments, not the overall cost
