  2. Churches need to pay taxes world wide. They got out of it by claiming they would stay out of swaying people politically, which turned out to be a crock of shit. If they want to lobby for Christian laws and influence people’s politics, they can pay taxes.

    This should also apply to all religious institutions, not just Christian ones. For too long shitty humans have weaponized religion for their own financial and power gains, and it needs to stop.

    Besides that, Netanyahu’s right coalition is really paying him some dividends by pissing off the catholic church and ensuring that half the US has a poor opinion of him. Not that it matters to his American allies in the GOP, since they distrust the church too. If he was remotely competent he’d step in and stop this to legitimize his claim over Jerusalem and not create a situation where his state conflicts with the religious views of 100 million Americans.

    This article is about the Israeli government going after just the Christian churches. It is not a good start because they are not going to tax all religions. AND doing so at a time like now, when their credibility is thoroughly crumbling.

  17. It`s time to tax the Catholic church on its commercial property, It will generate 2.6 billion dollars in taxes anually, taxing commercial property like offices, restaurants, parking lots etc. They are the biggest landowner in the world, time to give some to the poor.

Imagine the mega churches with billions upon billions of dollars with a purpose that requires no evidence but “faith” and a following so massive that it just keeps renewing itself every generation only to get larger and larger but still not paying taxes. Religion is probably the best scam humanity got away with.

  27. Good. Now let’s start doing it here. Everywhere. Make churches meet the same standards as registered charities. Here in Canada I believe it’s about 97% of all income must be spent directly on public programs accessible by anyone. No more than 3% on salary and admin costs. You fail, regular business tax on every penny.
