7. You guys should see how they treat south Asian migrant workers.

   Had a layover in Kuala Lumpur, went to bathroom at baggage claim area, saw 2 immigration officers assault (a massive slap to the back of the head, loud enough to hear down the corridor) of I’m assuming, a Bangladeshi migrant worker for walking too slow. The other officer just giggled.

   That evening, had a chat with a bartender, a bloke from Nepal, told him what I saw. He was not surprised and mentioned that mistreatment for south Asian workers was extremely common – from extortion, keeping passports, beatings is the standard expectation.

   One other anecdote, during my time there, I did notice that having a domestic helper is extremely common in many households in SEA. One thing that stuck out in particular, was that it’s not uncommon to witness when these families are eating out at restaurants, the helpers are usually either left out of meals completely, or a provided a separate cheaper meal (cheaper).

   They are treated like 2nd class citizens. Pretty disgusting if you ask me.
