  5. Neuer is almost 40. Only a matter of time. Ter stegen is easily the better keeper. Right now atleast.

  6. This sub is obviously biased towards MATS. But Neuer has always been clutch for Germany. His save against Xhaka last night. I mean pulling that off near 40 is…. phew….

  7. On a national level, I kind of get it. If Neuer has been the main keeper and never let Germany down, why change it?

    Neuer has declined, and MATS has massively improved, so if the choice would have to be made now, with neither having played for Germany before, I think there’s a good chance that most would choose MATS. But this is simply not the case.

    Additionally, as well rounded as MATS is (and Neuer too I guess), with Nagelsmann as coach Germany is more likely to play a high line. And while MATS is excellent at playing with a high defence, Neuer is the absolute greatest of all time in that regard.

    So yeah, sucks for MATS, but it kinda makes sense

  8. I love MATS but the choice to stay with Nuer isn’t just because he is the better keeper, he is a captain and has been the captain for a long time now and it’s very crucial for the dressing room, this also might be hisnlast tournament so Mats might get a chance in the world cup

  9. The amount of extraordinary saves that Neuer still pulls out is just insane. Ter Stegen is one of the best in the world and still has half a decade left for succession to that position. So I don’t see how it affects him tbh. He is second to possibly the GOATkeeper of the modern era.
