Climate change: Deal to help end deforestation misses first deadline just months after it was signed at COP26

  1. More COP26 failures.

We are screwed. Our governments don’t care and not enough people seem bothered about the future.

Edit: Hint, “Don’t look up” isn’t about a comet.

  2. Paris was an agreement to do nothing (it was actually just an accord, an agreement is at least meant to be binding and accords are just mutual expressions of approval).

People keep either pretending or being honestly fooled by all these “agreements”.

We are not making progress as a species. We won’t be any time soon.

It’s time to build flood defences (and irrigation projects and do extreme weather prep and 101 other forms of adaption).

  3. Action on climate change is being deliberately held off by those in power.

The rich have calculated there’s more money to be made supplying a solution to an emergency crisis than to prevent it happening.

Once heat domes and wet bulb events become more common in the West, Governments will quickly start diverting money towards the problem.

This will come at the expense of money for other services, and massive tax increases on working age people to fund it at the inflated rates (think PPE scandal x10).

We probably won’t see the apocalypse, but we will see massive growth in inequality, and a permanently reduced standard of living for multiple generations.
