Hey Everyone,

The title sums it up nicely… This happened 4-5 days ago. All went to the ER and one of the aggressors, as if being 20+ wasn't enough, hit my friend with a brick, forcing him to undergo facial reconstruction. Now, I won't get into the details out of respect for them, but also because this post is not about the accident. It's about asking for all you guys' help to make Vevey safe again.

Some of you may be unaware if you don't live around the Riviera area, but it's honestly a shit show. The train station doesn't feel safe, and it hasn't for a long time. Drug dealing in the streets is common. At this point, they just chill in front of the train station and in the surroundings of the town centre, chilling. Cops, on the other hand, just casually pass bye in their car from time to time, but rarely will you see one that's outside his car… But at night is where it gets real sketchy.

The one time I walked in Vevey at 4 A.M to help two friends going home after a party, a car kept following us for minutes until we went as far away of a road as possible. I hear testimonies of people being followed and extorted late at night. Of course, there's also the story of my friends getting put down and beat up by a whole horde of people that were juuuuust lacking that little bit of mercy needed to not use a weapon when you're already trying to kill 3 unarmed 18 y/os. I'm sure even some of you might have your own story.

Anywho, if I had to go on about stories, this would take too long. Let me ask you something instead, Would you feel safe? Well, if you have the same opinion as me, the parents of the victims made a petition (written in French) that you can sign . I think it explains the situation better than I ever will. You're not just helping the families and my friends, but you would also be helping a city that is in need of better protection. Thank you for taking your time reading this. I will be giving an update if there's genuine progression.

Edit: to give some context: Vevey has a large screen where they put euro matches, we went out as a large group to watch the game. Most people left like me, some stayed like my friends, the rest of the story is what happened above.

  1. I was recently in Lausanne and was unpleasantly surprised by the state of the city. A train station filled with drug addicts, beggars on every street and beautiful buildings tainted by graffiti. I can only imagine what your community is going through. I wish the best for your friends and, hopefully, we will all be able to make Vevey safe again for you, for your family and for everyone.

  2. It’s what happens when you let in the wrong people unfortunately.
    I’d start an initiative to reintroduce the death penalty as a possible punishment in a court of law, because someone smacking another with a brick has made the choice to do such a despicable horror. Not to mention the psychological consequences for the victim during decades.
    But the 100000 signatures won’t probably be enough and wouldn’t have any success on a national scale because most people are too weak to stand up for what is right, even if it happened to them or their family and friends. They want to be “nice and compassionate” with criminals who obviously don’t care about anyone but themselves. Look at how this is going in the USA, where they basically decriminalized crime in cities like LA and NY.
    I’m happy to hear counter-arguments.

    Carry pepper spray and be fit to run – 4 vs 20 is always a game you’ll loose. Engange in politics, demand more police activity in crisis regions.

  5. Is any city safe at 2-4 AM? Always be on guard and avoid certain areas during this time – in fact, head home at the latest at 2:00 AM. Switzerland isn’t paradise and never has been.

    I’m really sorry this happened to you! The public needs to report any and all activity so the police will be forced to react.

  7. You can observe the same in other places. In Aarau you have multiple physical violent encounters every week. Usually with people coming from abroad because they had to flee…

    In Brugg you have junkies everywhere around the trainstation.

    In Basel you have the Roma who get violent and the junkies.

    What makes me more sad is listening to the older kids of my neigbours. All of them carry weapons when they are out in town. Everyone loses once a knife is pulled. Some aparently want to buy guns. Crazy stuff…

    We imported those problems. But leftists will call this cultural enrichment.

    Makes me think of the aggression that happened a couple of years ago, in GE, against a group of women, by guys who were coming from France.

    Lausanne and Vevey are turning into very uncomfortable places.

    And yesterday a woman was attacked in Montreux by some guy looking for money. She managed to pull away and run into the Forum.

    They come here for benefits and this is how they behave. Very much like Sweden tbh.

    Here’s hoping the city is rich enough to hire more police to clean this shit up.
