  1. If you go to a third world country looking for cocaine and underage prostitutes, well… I bed you may end up death and a cheap hotel room.

  2. Medellin has a thriving arts and culture life, good restaurants, and night life.

It’s not like it was during the height of the Colombian civil war and the drug war.

  3. lol. Who needed to trigger alarm bells about Medellin?

  4. I’ll save you a click by quoting that ‘nearly all deaths were drug or prostitute related’.

  5. Surprise surprise. Doing drugs and hiring prostitutes in a country you hardly know is never a good idea.

El Poblado is a safe place as long you don’t do those 2 stupid activities.

  6. It should be well known that foreigners using tinder are targeted for robbery/ransom. Plenty of naive tourists visit thinking “it’s safe now” when for most aspects of life it is but not for dating.

  7. TLDR Sex tourists have been targeted for robbery, sometimes resulting in their murder. Don’t do sex tourism in a country you are not familiar with.

  8. At least the tittle wasn’t “29 tourist deaths SLAM alarm bells in medellin”

  9. The city is safe for anyone that is not heading there looking for drugs and/or prostitutes….. if that’s what you have in mind then the type of people you’ll meet are not going to be really looking out for you ….

  10. Why would they take random tusi
If od tusi prob did it
Also a lot of weird boot leg pharmaceuticals but don’t take the tusi

  11. Don’t go to Colombia for dating. It should be obvious by now.

  12. Fingers crossed that all the Andrew Tates of this world continue visiting Medellin.

  13. I think that’s hilarious, take your passport and go somewhere else, no one gives a fuck.

I spend 6 weeks last year in the Medellin & Pereira area, not a single issue. You reap what you sow.

  14. Medellin is a place to go if you like risking your life to do ordinary things.

  15. Why would you even… stay away from that place and also stay away from prostitution in general.

  16. I mean…we know some of these are the types of tourists that are there for sex. If you’re looking for the opportunity to basically purchase sex, you are gonna run into sex traffickers. Aka criminals. You can’t be surprised drugs, theft and other crimes get involved. This is very ‘play stupid games win stupid prizes’.

Let’s be very clear here, sex tourists are going there to take advantage of the power dynamic they believe they have with these women (or girls). However, behind the girl is usually a man. You’re the foreigner, it’s not going to go well for you.

Edit: I include people who say ‘dating’ but use tinder and are really after casual dating, aka sex with some social frills beforehand. This is basically sex tourism as well. You’re there for the end of the date, not the beginning, let’s be real.

  17. I was there 10 years ago, super wonderful metro, gondola, nightlife. 10/10

  18. “Hey hun, let’s go to Colombi…… yaaa no”
