My sister just immigrated to Germany and her birthday is coming up. She’s new to the food/culture there, but she likes to eat and/or cook. Hence, I’m planning to gift her a food box subscription that will help her explore German foods and flavors. I found this amazing subscription [https://germanfoodbox.com/](https://germanfoodbox.com/) and it’s exactly what I’m looking for. Unfortunately, it only ships in the US.
Are there any similar food box subscriptions that ship in Germany? I do realize this might be a long shot, especially after seeing germanfoodbox. In that case, can you suggest a gift the can achieve a similar objective? The overall goal is to really just help her settle in in Germany. I just picked a food-wise option because I know she’ll love it. TIA!

A cookbook? I don’t really see why you need to mail her something like Spätzle when she can just go and pick up a bag from Rewe for like 2 eur.
Hello Fresh is a thing. I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now and I love it
I mean there is something like this but she lives in the country of origin… https://www.praesentkorbservice.de/geschenkkoerbe/schwaebisch/472/schwaebischer-geschenkkorb#b02002dc9363b9764652bd1ea700d6e1
She can just go to the local store, pick something and cook

Since people might suggest HelloFresh… it used to be good but it’s pretty shit now and feels like they don’t care about the customers anymore. Food quality is rubbish, communication is not working, recipes are constant repeats but with new pictures, general quality of the box and items in it (such as the recipe cards) went down, and the packaging got more.
It genuinely used to be a service I’d happily recommend but now… don’t bother, spend your money on other things.
I don’t think you’d find a German food box in Germany, just because we live in the country the stuff is from.
Maybe a cookbook or a voucher to a resraurant near her would be an option?

I can recommend…[Hello Fresh](https://www.hellofresh.de)

It sounds like you want to get her a cookbook? [Perhaps something like this](https://kaisergranat.com/rezensionen/einfach-heimatkueche)? Or, if she is still learning German, [something like this](https://www.amazon.de/Easy-German-Cooking-RECIPES-SUCCESSFULLY/dp/B08FP7LF7X)?
Food boxes exist, but they tend to be just an assortment of (usually) fresh vegetables ([here is one example](https://www.gemuesekiste.com/produkte/Kist/gemuese-obstkisten)). It’s expected that you go out and buy the rest of what you need at the supermarket. All-in-one boxes (with all the ingredients plus recipes) exist (like Hello Fresh), but they’re fairly expensive and not all that mainstream.
The cost of labour in Germany is pretty high, so we don’t have armies of low-wage workers who work to make life convenient for everyone else, unlike in the US.
Another option if she is into food: how about a *Kochkurs* (cooking lessons)? These are quite popular in Germany. Half a dozen or so people meet up with one or two chefs in a professional kitchen, they all cook a (usually somewhat elaborate) meal together, and then they all sit down and enjoy it. It’s a lot of fun, and there are courses for just about every style of cooking.
I wouldn’t really recommend a food box for someone who is really into cooking, they tend to be more aimed at novice cooks.
Maybe consider some quality cookware or utensils instead.

(they also do very good dairy and meat products and the farm itself is a nice day trip from Berlin)
this ‘german food box’ is a weird “only in america” idea. in germany, it’s just food. it’s in the supermarkets.
