As a result, almost all the new legislation that was passed in response to COVID-19 were introduced with time gates – dates written into law at which point the powers would expire. These dates have been extended several times over the last two years, although always in 3-6 month increments.
This measure, which the Government was forced into by public pressure and lobbying by civil rights activists, has alleviated the concerns of almost all reasonable people. The remainder are the ultra-contrarian (anti-vaxxers, religious right, etc).

In the USA I had a hard time convincing some of my extended family to get vaccinated. They saw it as “perpetuating the abortion culture” since in the 1970s a baby was used in the research (The HEK 293 cell line).
Did Ireland have the same kind of people?

Ok so my kids have, covid caught it in school. There are 14 cases so far in a class of 28. Got a call from the HSE contact tracing. Guy was very nice told him they caught it in school so I’m letting the school take the lead on contact tracing. He wad happy enough.
Except my wife has a friend who’s husband is anti vax and I was so tempted to give them his number as a close contact. They’d ring him but not tell them who the contact was. Really wish I had.
