We have a proverb in Ukraine. You can take a man out of a village, but you cannot take a village out of a man. So the guys on the frontline have been sowing and harvesting for three years.

“Where there is BBQ, there is cat.” — Ancient Internet Proverb
Using asbestos near your vegetables is not that smart, nice garden but for the love of your lungs, get rid of that asbestos !
That’s a big pile of… dill?
Gardening is good for the soul. Kudos to the soldiers finding a way.
We have basically the same saying in English. Although man is usually boy or girl, and Village is usually country but can be anything you want.
You can take a boy/girl out of the country, but you cannot take the country out of the X.
Country here usually meaning opposite of City not a particular state or Nation but even that’s adjustable.
Man, that looks better than my own kitchen garden!
Also, I would think that those patches are a great way to reduce the stress from being in such a situation as they are.
Just hope they didn’t cut those asbestos sheets but rather just dug them in. :S
We have the same proverb in Croatia.
Asbestos cement slate (шiфер) is banned in many countries because the amphibole asbestos is a carcinogen. And you’ve made a vegetable garden out of it, facepalm
I see those shorts, what else you guys growing out there? 😂
Good activity for the mind, and good for the body.
Surprised the orcs haven’t bombed it just out of spite.
He took his pants of to show off his weed boxers… you know they got some sweet cannabis going
How to do you not have any weeds lol? I’m out here using miracle grow dirt, mulch, and and I’m still pulling weeds from my raised bed garden!!!
Well done and Slava Ukraini!!
We have similar phrases here too, like, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.” That’s “country” as in rural, the sticks, unsophisticated.
