Commons Speaker criticises Boris Johnson for Jimmy Savile slur against Keir Starmer

  1. It may be tradition to not be able to call other members liars but that doesn’t mean the office of Speaker should abdicate responsibility.

If Hoyle thinks he’s in place just to defend the traditions of the House then he’s not fit to be Speaker of the House.

  2. Never mind the Saville jibe, how Boris got away with his drug taking comment to the Labour front bench i’ll never know.

  3. Doesn’t matter to Boris, he knows how it works. The Commons Speaker’s criticism isn’t going to be plastered over the facebook feeds of the morons. But Boris’s accusation is, and that’s all that matters. Damage done, fake news prevails.

  4. So what? I call him a cunt every day and it has the safe effect. He’s untouchable by everyone but his own party and they don’t have a spine between them.

  5. I see BoJo has gone off to the Ukraine today… I fully expect tomorrow we’ll be hearing about imminent war, about a pissed up Boris in a Kiev nightclub and probably how he stole some vodka from Duty Free.

  6. Not allowed to call a liar a liar but you can call the front bench of the opposition drug addled paedophiles. Can’t wait to hear the arbiters of parliamentary code to tell me this is all ok cos those are the rules

  7. Johnson really appealing to the far right vote here. They keep banging on about this one no matter how disproven it is.

  8. I’ve never seen a bigger shitshow. The government in the thick of it are less ridiculous than this.

And nothing will happen as usual, tories will win the next election and we’ll act shocked it happened again as it gets worse and worse.

  9. Funny that Boris is managing to take Hoyle out with him just because he’s shining a light on everything wrong with the rules of old.

  10. So, Ian Blackford gets ousted for calling Boris a liar.
But Boris is allowed to tell yet another lie and slander Kier Starmer?

  11. I know this could never happen but Starmer should have asked in return whether BoJo is a pedophile like Saville. And then when BoJo responds no whether we can trust that answer. When he says yes, respond whether we should trust that answer to the same level we trust his other answers in parliament. Childish, but less than BoJo

  12. Johnson openly dog whistling to his Britain first qanon supporters. We are about twelve months behind the USA. Disgraceful to see a pm under investigation by the police, trying to end democracy and spewing far right filth

  13. TLDR: Labour questioned tories on drugs, Tories redirected towards Labour, everyone angry at Tories

  14. Turns out it’s not just a slur, but a conspiracy theory brought up by the British QAnon members. Boris Johnson is effectively Trump-lite.

  15. Was the Savile comment a dog whistle to online conspiracy theorists? I heard something about far-right spreading the Savile thing as a smear. Obviously the truth is Starmer had nothing to do with Savile and wouldn’t have even been in post at the time.

  16. Starmer’s face says it all. ‘You really fucking went there, you buffoon.’ I actually sympathise with the Labour leader after this, and before this I thought he had the charisma of a wet fart. I actually really, really, *really* hope that when Starmer becomes PM, he brings down the full force of the NCA and Metropolitan Police upon Boris and his cronies. Dude’s an ex-prosecutor and you should not fuck with prosecutors.

It’s amazing that you can be ejected for calling the PM a liar, but not for straight-up accusing the LOTO of protecting rich chomos like Jimmy Savile.

  17. Its pure deflection

Starmer did lead the CPS at that point in time, but was not the reviewing solicitor for the case. And actually if you read into this further, an investigation commissioned by him actually criticised prosecutors and police for their handling of the allegations (depending on what/who you are willing to believe at least)

He should had turned around and asked Boris what (or rather ***who***) he was doing in 2009.I believe it was Helen MacIntyre, he had a daughter with her and the Court of Appeal threw out his attempt to have an injunction taken out banning said daughters existence in 2013

  18. Look guys, hoyle is just playing by the rules…

There are no rules that govern the PM. It was just inconceivable that a PM would behave like this so they never wrote any rules to stop it.

  19. Hoyle is a buffoon corrupted by power. He is more bothered about pomp and circumstance and his image than the future of parliament and this country. An absolute failure.
