1. Funny thing is Bardella himself if technically eligible to Algerian citizenship. And if he was to get the Algerian citizenship, and one day would want to give it up to get into a state job, he would need a special authorisation from the Algerian government.

   All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights… until far right decides your less of a human.

2. So what exactly is this solving? You can be Russian spy while having exclusive French citizenship and you can be a dedicated professional public servant while having dual citizenship. Just another example of not wanting to go through the difficult option of actually treating people based on their merit instead of some other questionable criteria, just to divide and conquer.

4. Honestly, not that bad of an idea.

   Citizens with dual citizenship have split loyalties, can more easily example justice should the commit a criminal abuse of office, as well as an easier time abandoning their fellow citizens should a devastating crisis, or war, come.

   I guess the old saying about broken clocks is still true.

   I‘m glad dual citizenship is only possible in limited circumstances here in Austria. Should be more restricted, but one can wish.

5. They’re just making sure that they won’t lose any votes from hardcore far right lunatics at the last minute. I’m pretty sure that this would be very hard if not outright constitutionally impossible to implement, not only in France buy in many other countries around the world.

6. Technically this is already the case in Finland. You may not be appointed to a number of military and border guard positions if you have a dual citizenship where the other nationality is considered a security threat (“endangers the security of the state, public safety, national defense, or Finland’s international relations or the security of service”). Typically this refers to Russian citizenship preventing you from passing the security clearance to these positions but it’s not specified.

8. I know this subreddit has gone to shit but, I did not expect to see people defending this in reddit EUROPE of all places. This is as anti-European as it gets

   The left suddenly abhor this sort of thinking after having spent a decade sorting people by race and declaring that white people are privileged, no matter what, and that non-whites are oppressed, no matter what.

   Men are privileged, no matter what. Women are oppressed, no matter what.

   Sorting people is fine, so long as we sort them via the lens of imported Californian identity politics.
