If this is your reaction then you have issues. Nothing special about being called guapo by a lady who just called the last 2 crackhead and 70 year old men the same thing lol.
When the old lady calls you mijo.
She calls everyone guapo
I hate those close and familiar treatments.
How about “bonico”?
Me realising my Spanish girl who works at a bar calls other guys guapo :,(
I loled hard at this
When the dealer calls you primo
When an elderly woman calls you mijo
he looks like my cat named Neko
When your mom call u cariño
When they call you chavalote, but you are almost 40.
When he asks you for la hora and then steals your celular
When the worker at McDonald’s calls you “ermano”.
When a politician calls you “inteligente”
When an old lady at the mercado calls me cariño
Yeah I heard in Spain it’s common for women in service jobs (I.e. Bartender, waitress, etc.)
Us Filipinos definitely need to keep this in mind when we visit Spain.
In Filipino, we also say guapo/guapa for handsome/pretty.
You could also say “pogi” but that’s more of a casual, milder way of saying it. And it can also mean that you look good (i.e. dressed nicely) but not necessarily handsome.
But in Filipino, when you say guapo, you really fucking mean it. Like there’s a hint of admiration/infatuation/attraction when a girl calls a guy guapo.
One of those cultural nuances you have to be aware of when traveling.
