It's been 5 years since Spurs moved into their new stadium and the club hasn't yet sold the naming rights to the stadium as initially envisioned for 20m a year.

Has the club made any head way on this or have they given up trying to find a sponsor?

Feels very Spursy to demand 20m a year 5 years ago and get 0 in naming revenue during that whole period.

  1. Double edged sword. Yes, they are losing potential revenue of a sponsor.

But they’re also having a million hits on google of people looking for Beyoncé tickets. The exposure to that and the (brand) growing will probably put them in a strong negotiating position.

  2. I don’t know the ins and outs but I suspect the naming rights haven’t been done because they can’t have it for every event. Eg. NFL and concerts can’t be at The Greggs Tottenham Stadium for example

  3. Worth more for branding to keep it as The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

  4. I’m sure Spurs fans are actually delighted by this because having a stadium sponsor usually comes with having a renaming of said sponsor and you end up with soulless shit like the Emirates, Etihad, Sports Direct Arena, AMEX Stadium, Bet365 Stadium etc

I’d rather be piss poor, sitting in League Two and watch my team in a tiny stadium with its historical name or at least its logical name. I dread the day the Yanks get to rebrand Stamford Bridge!

  5. Spurs is really well managed in the business side of things and don’t really have financial issues like many other clubs do, I don’t think it’s a priority unless they need funds for something specific.

  6. I mean they play fake crowd noise over the PA system, so they can get Milli Vanilli to sponsor them maybe?

  7. Spurs are in the best situation in terms of ffp (probably), they’ll find a sponsor if they think the deal is right.

  8. Really bad take by the OP.

Spurs are very well run financially. They see benefits from having their own name on the stadium. Just like a company would choose to sponsor a stadium.

Every concert/NFL event is associated with the Tottenham Hotspur team.

They really are in a win/win situation, don’t have to sell naming rights because they are getting huge advertisement benefits as it is but they can sell naming rights if a very lucrative deal comes along.

  9. Gunners fans should start a gofundme to buy the rights so they can name it themselves lol

  10. I’d rather they keep the name then it become some random gambling company name
