FORMER Minister Jim McDaid drunkenly drove up the wrong side of a busy dual carriageway before a concerned haulier brought a madcap chase to a safe end.
The Fianna Fail TD and former minister was then arrested by a plainclothes garda who had also joined the pursuit.
It is understood he stopped his car after the haulier, who had been pursuing him, used his articulated vehicle to block two lanes of a roundabout.
This is bullshit if the guards walked out on strike I wouldn’t blame them in the slightest. They under resourced and are becoming scapegoats
How would one contribute to his legal costs for his service to the country?

It should never have gotten this far. Should have been acquitted due to the fact that the scrotes were on the wrong side of the road.
Shameful that this guard did his duty with bravery and has been therefore dragged into court by GSOC and the DPP neither of which have 1% of the courage needed just to set foot on patrol as a proper guard.
I hope the media coverage of the inevitable acquittal sees the beginning of the end of the strangle hold the criminals rights lobby groups have over our justice system.

Anyone with legal knowledge know, were he to be sentenced, would it open the possibility of the men’s families suing him or the Gardaí?

Absolutely ridiculous. The Garda have to break the law to give chase anywhere. Are they not supposed to break the speed limit either? Are they supposed to now stop at red lights while in pursuit too? The Garda deserves a medal for taking his life into his hands to try catch these bastards who have previously beaten up pensioners in their own homes

I don’t think gardai should endanger the public. I think choosing to drive down the wrong side of a dual carriageway increasing the danger to those who are driving correctly down the road is bad actually.
