  1. Berlin should never have been the capital again after WW2.
During cold war only people who didnt want to contribute for their country went to Berlin and till this day we see the consequences.

  2. this chart just means that an average Berliner was poorer than an average German back in 2015

  3. You are not supposed to top this classment.

It just means you are centralized as fuck and it is not great imo.

  4. I was expecting London to be even higher. Barry, I was told north is shit.

  5. Financially? No, these numbers are no longer accurate, and even back then were mostly just misleading.

Emotionally? Sell it to Poland for 20 Zloty

  6. It’s very rare in “old countries” for the capital city to also be the economic powerhouse. The only exception I can think of is Beijing.

  7. Suck it munich! We never really needed you after raising you from mere peasants

  8. I mean isn’t this not true for Berlin anymore since a few years now?

  9. I think we should just split the country again, let the AFD voters have their totalitarian state and throw Berlin in the mix for some entertainment. And we start using Bonn as the capital again…

  10. I think it would be beneficial to get rid of some regions in Berlin

  11. yes, no matter the impact. berlin is a lost city and should be turned into parking space.

  12. no. Cause Berlin had it’s first surplus in years last year and it’s only uphill from there.
But to give some context, after the reunification and Western Germany brought capitalism over, a Christian Conservative mayor from the former West thought i’d be a great idea to have all the state money in stocks, then the first bubble burst around the 2000s and he left office with double digit billions in depth. Try coming back from that as a worn down, half destroyed and just barely reunited capital city…
And that’s essentially the main reason why the phrase “poor but sexy” had been established. Nowadays it’s becomes more and more sexy, less poor though, we’re kinda proud of that, but with good management and enough time the largest city and capital of a country like Germany can only grow and catch up with other S-Tier cities in the future.
