I’ve been dying to visit Edinburgh, it’s so spooky in a good way.
This style of architecture is so gorgeous. I really hope the craze of minimalist, modernist buildings dies down.
The building with the clock tower is the Balmoral hotel, and while it looks gorgeous at a glance, the more you look at it the weirder it becomes. It’s windows are all different sizes and it’s got features of several different architectural styles all at once, which makes it look really busy and messy. Though it’s still an impressive building in its own bizarre way.
It used to be the North British Station hotel, and connects directly to Waverley train station. The clock in the tower still deliberately runs a few minutes fast so people are less likely to miss their trains.
Love the style. But it needs an army of powerwashers to come in. God I can just imagine the dirt sliding right off, leaving prestine stone underneath…
