Today marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gotse Delchev, a Macedonian Bulgarian revolutionary and national hero for both countries. Unfortunately nowadays turned more into a figure, which divides, rather than unite us.. May the days of brotherly love come soon again between our two lands.

Who was the wife by his side? Let’s talk about that!
So disrespectfull! He was Bulgarian who died so that the region Macedonia to be freed from the Ottomans. Even his grand-grandson says they are Bulgarians.
Here before 1000 comments!
I’m genuinely curious, for what is he celebrated in Bulgaria?
Very interesting story, never heard of this before so thank you for the post. I only spent 10 minutes reading his Wikipedia and given the controversy surrounding him I should probably refrain from saying too much but… The way ‘elites’ are able/willing to rewrite/make up history in support of their nationalism (or other ideology) always fascinates me, on both sides. Not necessarily in a good way, of course.
In any case, I can agree to your call for brotherly love and hope we will see a more united future in Europe and around the world. Thanks again for sharing!
