Did he say with that accent? Cause that’s how I read it govna.
> “She was cool as a cucumber, never… I’m telling you what I had doing the recording. She not only is a soprano, she sang just a hair on top of the note,” the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang star added of the famous soundtrack to the film.
> “Just that little bit sharp, and I sing flat. So I just… what a sweater that was getting through that album,” he went on, adding, “I’m actually a bass, but I had to sing.”
> “It turned out alright, and she was so patient with me,” Van Dyke told the podcast.
What a lovely, talented man. You have to love him — he transcends national borders, he’s an international treasure. Just like Dolly.
His name is one of the greatest punchlines to a joke I had ever heard.

I was a bank manager and an older client asks me to go into his safe deposit box. He came out and we chatted a bit. He showed me two letters he sent home while he was in the Army. On the back of both were very well done cartoon like drawings. One was a GI shaking a coke machine I believe. Don’t remember what the other was. Just that they were as good as any cartoon drawn in the newspaper. He said both were drawn by Dick Van Dyke. Dick was in his unit, maybe right after basic training. He said Dick was a great guy. He worked part time on weekends at a radio station. He also said they once drug a piano into their barracks. One day the Sargent came in with Dick Van Dyke playing and singing and everyone got yelled at for having the piano in there. My customer had nothing but nice things to say about him.
