Anyone have stats on russian gas as a percentage of total energy consumption? If 90% of your gas is russian, but only 5% of your energy consumption is gas, you’re not as reliant as a country with 50% russian gas where gas makes up 40% of that country’s energy mix.
70,474 Tj / Natural Gas
1,277,329 Tj / Total consumption of energy
Worthless without actually listing how many per cent of total energy production is from gas. Finland only get’s 5% of it’s energy from gas, which means they are not at all dependent on it despite what this post lets us believe.
This bullshit metric again? Title is from the picture, but it is misleading.
E.g. Currently 6.82% of Finnish **electricity** (so not the whole story) is produced from natural gas. if the numbers are still true, that’s ~6.41% from Russian gas.
The last number I could find for Germany is 14.1% of the electricity, so again, if the picture is right ~6.91% from Russian gas.
As you might have noticed: 94 > 49, but 6.91 > 6.41 (though not by a lot). Odd, isn’t it?
Bulgaria uses only 6% gas in its energy production, so the actual dependence on russian gas is around 4.5%
This is a massive lie. 100% of essentially nothing is essentially nothing, this has nothing to do with dependency.
October 2022 with the opening of Baltic Pipe from Norway, Denmark … Poland will be free of Russian dependency. It does not mean we won’t buy Russian gas. It means we will buy it cheaper cause when you are free you have better negotiating position. And if they cut us out for one reason or another (NS2) we are chilling.
Russian Gas 😋😋😋😋
No, but seriously Italy has banned nuclear power since 1980s and has a huge requirement for gas due to the large industries and manufacturing economy. Those commercial ties with Russia are not going away anytime soon in my opinion.
This gets posted every so often and it never has the shares how much each country has their energy produced by gas. Useless statistic.
You didn’t like nuclear energy? Suck it!
People complaining that dependency is not that high clearly does not count gas used for hot water, heating, cooking and high usage in industry (not for energy production)
Finland is screwed without gas. How do they wok then? On an induction stove?
Finland, nooooo… 😟
If i use one button per year and buy it from Russia, my button supply is 100% dependent. Of course, if i also buy 1000 zippers i am not that dependent on buttons.
Surely Russia should be at the top of the list too
Someting that gets overlooked: those pesky Russians use the money they make selling gas to buy European products! Yikes!
OP is Russian psyops!

94% of all vodka consumed in Finland is Russian, so this means that if russia stops delivering vodka to Finland,ä. 94% of the finnish population will die of thirst.
finland??
Putin got Europe by the Fecking Ballocks !
I love how germany does the “you dont own me unless you have 50%” rule.
These charts coming up and keep using this strange conflation of “depend on Russian gas” without examining how much they use gas at all which makes a huge difference on total dependence on Russian gas. Finland is somewhere around 5% gas consumption for energy. So even if their gas was 100% Russian it would only account for 5% of their total energy consumption. That’s not a lot and while it would be rough to suddenly lose it, within a year you could completely move away from it
Putin can use blocking gas as a blackmail weapon on these countries unless they obey Russia’s regime.
Better look for new sources if they don’t want to be bullied into oblivion by Putin.
Although when it comes to gas we depend only on Russia, we don’t even produce electricity from it. Most of our electricity still comes from coal and hydroelectric power plants.
This is misleading
This countries don’t depend on Russia for jack shit, they buy oil/gas from them because it is cheaper then other.
