Spain passes landmark labour reform, unlocking EU billions

  2. This Spanish reform is just a cosmetic reform, hence why big corporations were OK with it.

    The reform itself was not a condition to get the aid, what was a condition is that any reform needed the support from the business.

    Businesses would have been even happier without a reform, but making it was part of the coalition agreement so “something” had to be done.

    Too sad that this new reform will mainly affect the habilities of small companies to hire, since enforces the need of doing permanent contracts, but Spain is not like the UK where you can fire for any reason during the first two years, its very hard to fire which is one of the main reasons of being the EU country with the highest unemployment and temporal contracts rates..
