European Central Bank keeps interest rates unchanged despite record inflation

  1. Good. The ECB shouldn’t suddenly change its interest rates because of a likely short-term increase in prices predominantly driven by energy shortages.

  2. What I’m waiting to see is, if the U.S. begins hiking interest rates while the ECB doesn’t, will cash flow out of Europe into the U.S., chasing yield?

  3. Inflation is unavoidablefor some time but EZ isn’t as bad as US/UK when you do the maths and it’s mostly clearly attributable too.

I’m sure US (and UK) would like a hike but that’s not our problem.
