   It seems that the Russians suffer from various national inferiority complexes. They seem to desperately want to be important, respected , to be insightful, to be listened to, and to be seen as wise. And they are so jealous that other countries achieve this organically. They want to force that respect they so crave onto people and other nations. They do not understand the basic rule: You earn respect, long-term respect, through national empathy, not through national violence. So the Russians take the second best option because being empathetic is too difficult for them. If they won’t respect us, they will be afraid of us.
