Hi,

Trying to get our heads around our current situation and can't seem to get a straight answer. My husband has been offered a transfer with work. I don't have a job in Germany and will be going over as his spouse. Am I entitled to "free" healthcare or will I have to buy private health insurance? Just been on Check24.de and the cheapest monthly payment I am finding is over 500 Euros a month, not an expense we thought we'd have to pay.

  1. Does your husband get public insurance? If so, you can be insured under his insurance.

  2. How will your husband be insured? Public or private? That is important. And will you have your own income, and if so, how much?
