Considering China being second biggest trading partner after Germany, it’s not that strange. If you don’t wan’t totalitarian regimes to host sporting events (Russia – WC, China – Olympics, Qatar – WC) don’t award it to them. Simple as that. If bodies responsible for awarding such a events are corrupt. Disband them. Easy as that. Otherwise sending sportsmen there is pure hipocrisy.
