If it’s original, that sign is worth a lot more than the gate it’s on. The chances of it being original are *minute*, though.
Long story but I was given one of these (but with a better font) by a friend. I never even doubted it would be authentic. Big heavy cast iron bastard.
Then 2 seconds on google and you can buy one exactly like mine with the same numbers etc for about £30 – I never realised fake cast iron signs were a thing.
I put it on my gate, and at least I’m not precious about it knowing how little it’s worth.
Are these things common? Looks like one I saw on Alban Way recently
