In early March 2018, festival head Jurek Owsiak shared some sad news. Przystanek Woodstock officially changed its name to Pol'and'Rock Festival because "the name could no longer be used for free" (Mr. Jurek explained that this would have meant introducing paid tickets).
Over the years, the Polish Woodstock Festival became one of Europe's largest open-air events. In 2018, due to trademark pressures from the original Woodstock festival in the United States, which held a strong claim over the name, the organizers faced potential legal issues. To avoid these complications and to carve out a unique identity, the festival was rebranded as Pol'and'Rock Festival.
Despite the name change, the spirit of the festival remains the same. As always, it's about music, joy, and community. We are here for you on Reddit at r/PolAndRock as a fan page. Share your videos, memories, and spread the festival vibes!
The new name, Pol'and'Rock, emphasizes the festival's Polish roots and its rock music heritage, while still paying homage to the spirit of the original Woodstock Festival (Wikipedia) (Poland Rock Festival)
See you at Pol'and'Rock! 🎸🔥🌍
