
At the turn of the 20th century, there were no pizza restaurants in Italy outside of Naples. You could get pizza in NYC, São Paulo and Buenos Aires, but not Rome, Florence or Venice.

To me pizza was always American due to seeing it in their films, long before I became aware of Italy’s existence.
