Ummm… hopefully, NATO is studying it from both a defensive viewpoint as well as offensive. There are many lessons to be gleaned from Ukraine’s actions in the Black Sea.
Yeah, this war has likely given us the most dramatic alteration of the meta in naval warfare since the ironclads, at least.
A *sea change*, if you will…
One of the most fun concepts I was ever shown was a “sub hive”.
TLDR a sub with wire guided/passive guided “gremlins” that carry torpedoes or even missiles sits quietly while covering an area that would normally require an entire fleet.
Drones wont replace good torpedoes.. but they can make fantastic “extras” in combat.
I’m pretty sure NATO keenly observes everything in this war and maniacally takes notes of every detail, be they land, sea or air situations.
Clearly there are lessons to be learned for A2D2 in a brown / green water strategic settings. But how applicable are these lessons to power projection across geographical theaters as large and dispersed as the Pacific?
Few big medium/small with smaller drones can replace giant frigates
