Shareholders look at this and then think “great” and lobby politicians with donations and gifts to keep it that way.
For anyone that is interested I would heartily recommend the Octopus Tracker tariff, we have been on it for around 6 months and have saved so much already.
Would quite fancy a world where essential services *aren’t* used for making profits that line elite pockets.
probably because our defining feature is wind. which isnt anywhere near as cheap as zealots like to make out.
Uk households also oppose every single attempt to build a Powerplant
>By contrast, UK households pay the ninth lowest gas prices compared to 27 EU countries, at just 8p a unit.
Could easily have a headline that the UK pays less for gas than the majority of EU countries
It’s swings and roundabouts on energy prices as there are global market forces, local market forces and government subsides and taxes.
Getting apple to apple comparisons are difficult and people will ignore what they don’t like and what they do.
My electric usage is very low, I pay more to the electric bill for the daily standing charge then I do for KW used.
48p a day is a huge rip off for standing charges. Ive checked around and most suppliers charge about this.
Before fuel prices went sky high, the standing charge was less then half this…. Why is that?
At this point I’ve given over caring, I’m drained and the money men win.
This election? I’ve ignored nearly all of it as its a waste of my time. Nothing will ever change in the uk.
The government needs to keep the average person happy to the point they won’t rebel.
They are failing. There eventually will be discontent, maybe.
But not me. I’m tired and done
Because of the huge amount of very expensive offshore wind maybe?
Our gas is one of the cheapest though and makes up the majority of bills
UK households voted to remove themselves from the protection of the most effective consumer advocate in history.
Brexit triumphs again.
Course we do…just another way to transfer wealth to the uppers
Well yeah, we have to pay for the electricity and then for half of the electricity of the country whose national utility provider is providing it for us too.
Not much different to our trains, we have no public train company but we do have a load of European national operators providing us with train services, at substantially more expensive rates to subsidised their own.
In short the government has fucked us over and we are morons.
and most of the money goes to a French company. suckers!
My bills are high but no way am I paying more than the whole EU, that’d be in the billions
So much of our grid is owned by EDF, our high payments help keep the French price low
People complaining about this, have you even considered the shareholders?! They’ve got mouths to feed as well
