
For the people working in NMBS/SCNB, what do the numbers on the train mean? You have this big 4 numbers in gray, and then some small numbers on a blue background.
(Also: is there a NMBS/SCNB subreddit or a Belgian trainspotting subreddit?)

Not working for NMBS, but I’ll give it a shot.
The number in front is the “organisation serial number”. Every train has a different one. First two numbers denote the class, the last 3 the number in that class. This is train 503 of the 08-class (the MR08).
The numbers on the side are technical specifications like type of brake, empty weight, maximum allowed weight, an international identifier, minimum curve radius, minimum crest radius,…
