Your beef is with the landlord, not the guy or girl filling the vacancy that you’re texting. Furthermore just because the room hasn’t been filled yet doesn’t mean you’d have got it with or without the HAP issues – depending on prices and locations sometimes you’ve hundreds if not thousands of people applying for the same place.
Also attacking or getting aggressive (which may just be the way it’s coming across in text) with future housemates isn’t a great way to start any co-living situation or make them in any way likely to offer you the room in the first place.
I wasn’t attacking or getting aggressive, Im sleeping rough the past 2 weeks and to be descriminated over hap is like a kidney punch
Can anyone point me in a direction of agencies or similar who help hap tennants get in contact with landlords who accept hap
I think the problem you are going to have here is the landlord didn’t say it to you and the tenant, was ‘mistaken’.
I think people on HAP have a big stigma around them, mostly the scum of Ireland are on it, but yes there are nice folks on it too, but it’s ruined for everyone.
Worst thing you can do is refuse HAP in that manner.
Who is representing the LL here? Looks to be another tenant.
The LL could say that they never expressed that to whoever said it.
Honestly ….. you might not have a case here
Years ago I was on HAP and we found it close to impossible to find a place with it , took over a year and only got the place though a friend.
What does reporting this do? Doesnt evem seem to be from a landlord?
Ive been turned down hundreds of times, im not in recipt of hap but letting agent keeps telling me because i ‘seem like’ i could apply landlords wont touch my application
apparently landlords are trying to get ahead of those doing the auld bait and switch
If you’re actually trying to get the place would it not make sense to mention HAP after you’ve been approved and not put it in the form of a question?

It’s seen as discrimination.
Probably saved you a lot of time.
